The Munich AirportAcademy and the University of Colorado Denver (CU Denver) Business School have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU). The two institutions will collaborate on training programs for aviation professionals. This partnership marks the Munich AirportAcademy’s first alliance with an international university.
Executive MBA in aviation
According to the agreement, Munich Airport’s education and training division will develop and provide specialized training modules for students enrolled in the newly launched Executive MBA in aviation (EMBAA) program at CU Denver. The first training course is set to start in 2026 and will combine the academy’s operational know-how with CU Denver’s academic program.
Targeted toward experienced professionals in aviation and related industries, the EMBAA program at CU Denver combines business management, strategy and industry-specific knowledge. Both institutions will seek opportunities to promote the program together, emphasizing the importance of integrating academic and practical perspectives in aviation education.
International university partnership
“With this partnership, we are delighted to bring practical, airport-based insights into an executive education program designed for decision-makers in the aviation industry,” said Alexander Hömer, senior vice president of the Munich AirportAcademy. “It also strengthens the close relationship between Munich and Denver airports, which have been part of the global Sister Airports network since 1991 – an initiative consisting of eight international airports sharing knowledge, collecting ideas and exchanging experiences on a regular basis.”
David Chandler, associate dean of executive programs at CU Denver, stated, “At a time when universities are facing questions around the unique value they add to society, innovative business schools will partner with major economic forces to deliver growth. Denver Airport (DEN) is the largest single economic driver in the Rocky Mountain region, and we are excited to help shape executive leadership in such an essential global industry.”
