Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) are implementing Enhanced Passenger Processing (EPP) to speed up the international arrivals process.
EPP is a voluntary process for US citizens and no prior enrollment is required. Travelers arrive at the CBP inspection area, where a camera matches their photo to the document information CBP already has on file. The touchless process is designed to complete in seconds, reducing the time spent at the CBP arrival area. Phoenix Sky Harbor is the 23rd airport to offer this free service.
The airport also offers Transportation Security Administration (TSA) PreCheck Touchless ID, which is available in both terminals. The process uses facial-recognition technology to verify travelers’ identities so they can move through security without showing a physical ID. This is an opt-in program through their airline. New e-gates from Clear and TSA checkpoint reserve slots are also helping to reduce wait times.
