AGS Airports has appointed WSP and Pascall + Watson as design partners for the next phase of its £350m (US$470m) AGS Reimagined transformation program across Glasgow and Southampton airports.

The appointments follow a competitive procurement process and mark progress in the group’s long-term plan to modernize and upgrade its airport portfolio, which also includes Aberdeen.

WSP has been selected as lead development designer for Southampton Airport, providing architectural and engineering services across areas including structural design, fire safety and ventilation. At Glasgow Airport, WSP will work alongside Pascall + Watson to lead the terminal transformation, a key part of the wider investment program.

The design phase will focus on improving terminal layout, passenger flow and overall customer experience, while also addressing future capacity requirements and sustainability goals.

Kam Jandu, CEO of AGS Airports, said, “These appointments represent an important milestone in the delivery of AGS Reimagined. WSP and Pascall + Watson bring world-class capability and deep experience of designing modern airport environments, and their expertise will help us create facilities that are more intuitive, efficient and enjoyable for our passengers.

“With our £350m investment now being put to work, we are moving at pace to deliver transformational change across our airports.”

Mark Wolfe, aviation sector lead at WSP, said the partnership would focus on both passenger experience and environmental performanc: “Drawing on our multidisciplinary design, building services and systems expertise – and collaborating closely with Pascall + Watson – we’ll create intuitive, resilient terminal environments that improve passenger flow and experience while supporting low-carbon goals.”

The AGS Reimagined program represents the largest capital investment by AGS Airports since its formation in 2014. Planned works include modernization of Glasgow Airport’s main terminal, upgrades to Southampton’s facilities, retail improvements at Aberdeen Airport, and enhancements to airfield infrastructure across all three sites.

The program also supports AGS Airports’ target of achieving net-zero direct emissions by 2035.
