International terminal opened at Noi Bai Airport in Vietnam

Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi, Vietnam, has officially opened its new Terminal 2 (T2) building for use by international passengers. The inauguration of T2 took place on January 4, 2015, and will boost the airports capacity by approximately 10 million passengers.

The new international terminal is spread across four floors and one basement and covers approximately 456,745ft2 of floor space. The main building and two wings have been equipped with a range of modern technology including 96 check-in counters, 10 self-service kiosks, 283 FIDS and 17 boarding gates – 14 of which use passenger bridges.

Noi Bai airport served 15.2 million passengers in 2013 despite only having an annual passenger capacity of nine million. T2 will now boost the overall capacity to 19 million with further plans to expand the terminal in 2020. Terminal 1 (T1) will continue to operate as the airport’s domestic terminal.
