Denver International Airport in Colorado, USA, has the fastest wi-fi out of the top seven busiest airports in the US, according to mobile data analytics firm Wefi.

The average speed at Denver International is 4.73 MBps, which is faster than Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta, Chicago O’Hare, Dallas/Fort Worth, Los Angeles, New York JFK and San Francisco international airports, according to the study,

Denver Airport has supplied wi-fi since 2007 and in 2014 it completed an upgrade to its public wi-fi infrastructure, including a US$1m upgrade of the wireless access points, antennas, controllers and switches. There is also a wi-fi upgrade currently taking place in the airport’s Jeppesen Terminal.

Robert Kastelitz, chief information officer for Denver Airport, said, “The demand for wi-fi technology in our facility has grown exponentially over the years. Investing in upgraded infrastructure is key to continuously improving the airport experience for those who travel through this airport. We offered wi-fi since 2007, and these upgrades, which increase bandwidth, offer an even more robust experience for passengers. The best part about it is that it’s easy to access and it’s free.”
