Hospitality firm Hyatt Hotels Corporation has reached an agreement for the construction of a 350-room Grand Hyatt Hotel at San Francisco International Airport in California, USA.

The new hotel will be located near the entrance to the airport and will have direct access to the terminals via an AirTrain. Alongside its 350 rooms, the hotel will contain 17,500ft² of flexible meeting space, a 24/7 business center, and a health club and spa, as well as an indoor heated pool, whirlpool and sauna. The food and beverage offerings will include both full-service and casual restaurants, a wine and sushi bar, and a rooftop cocktail lounge.

Engineering company Webcor Builders and architects Hornberger + Worstell were announced as the contractors for the project during a signing ceremony held in the airport’s Aviation Museum. San Francisco Airport will construct and own the hotel while Hyatt will provide the branding and day-to-day management. Construction work is expected to begin in the autumn of 2016 with completion scheduled for mid-2019. The facility has been designed to achieve both a four star designation and LEED Gold certification for environmentally sustainable design and operation.

Ed Lee, San Francisco mayor, said, “The construction and operation of Grand Hyatt San Francisco International Airport is a major economic win for the entire San Francisco Bay Area region, creating jobs, revenue and an even better world-class experience for travelers at the airport.”

Mark Hoplamazian, president and CEO for Hyatt, said, “We look forward to working closely with the team at SFO, which shares Hyatt’s passion for quality, innovation, service and the creation of a caring environment for its customers, associates and the community it serves. The Grand Hyatt project at San Francisco International Airport is consistent with our company’s objective to grow strategically with great partners and in gateway destinations where our loyal guests and meeting planners want us to be.”
