Council approves renovations for Charlotte Douglas International

Charlotte City Council has approved US$48m in renovation works for Charlotte Douglas International Airport in North Carolina, USA.

According to a report by wbtv.com, the renovations will include the demolition and construction of a new access road with eight lanes each for departures and arrivals. There will also be a series of pedestrian tunnels enabling travelers to walk between the terminal and parking lots without having to deal with traffic.

The project is scheduled for completion in six years’ time, although the contract reportedly includes a US$1.9m early completion bonus.
