Approval granted for Dayton International renovation project

Dayton International Airport in Ohio, USA, has obtained the US$15m of funding required for the first phase of a wider US$130m renovation project.

The first phase will involve replacing the existing façade for the entrance with a glass wall and canopy, according to a report by local news site the Dayton Daily News. Work for the project will begin in summer 2016 with an estimated completion date of spring 2018.

Later stages of the project will include the addition of a second floor in the terminal containing a new food court area, remodeling the airport’s concourses, and the reconstruction of the economy parking lot.

Terry Slaybaugh, director of aviation for the city of Dayton, said, “It will change the face of the terminal and the customer experience. It’s a big deal for the city to make this investment in city infrastructure.”
